Surgery

September 8, 2010

Today, both Jefferson and I took Jack to Mercy Hospital in Gilbert to get tubes placed in his ears. We had to be there at 6:30 am for a 7:30 am appointment. Luckly, Jack was the surgeon's first patient. The night before we had put him to bed really early but the kid woke up at four oclock in the morning and the first thing he said to me was "I want juice" it was so sweet and it was very hard of me to say no to him because he was not to have any food or water after midnight.

So I told Jack "can you wait a little bit until after your surgery this morning" Jack then said "ok"

He did so good waiting it out for three hours without food or water and when we got to the hospital he did really good getting dressed and listening to the lady who was listening for his heart. He was a really happy boy. He didn't even cry when the nurse took him away from us. The surgery took five to ten minutes and the funny part was the doctor told us he had so much wax in his ears that he clogged up the surgeons suction. Maybe that's why he wasn't responding to us or hearing us clearly. However, the after part when Jack came around from waking up from surgery was really hard and very sad. Jack would not stop crying and was just not happy with anything. He kept bouncing from one person to another to hold him, he didn't want his juice, he threw the toys that he was given on the flood, he was not a happy camper. After a couple of hours had past Jack finally snapped out of it and started being his old self and responded better to us talking to him. What an experience.

Oh I totally know how you feel! Hopefully this is able to fix his ear infection problems and your little guy can be happy and healthy!

I feel for you too. It's not a fun experience, but hopefully you'll be able to see the difference really quickly. I'm a big advocate for tubes:)
