Adelynn Tauhere (My Love) Schneider

July 20, 2010

Friday July 16: I lost my mucus plug and kept on loosing more and more until the day I delivered.

Monday July 19: I could not sleep at all, Adelynn was kicking me like crazy as usual and I had so many thoughts going throw my head about all the different things that I needed to get done that day.

Tuesday July 20: I wake up at 7:30 am I leave without telling Jefferson that I have to go to wal mart because I needed more panties and a bigger bra and some thank you cards and envelopes. As I walked out of my apartment door my water breaks just a little bit, However, before I run to wal mart I stop by my friend Megan’s apartment to drop off the cards that where due for this month scrapbook card. Since she needed envelopes as well, I told her I would get her some. While I’m driving to wal mart my underwear gets wetter and wetter, by the time I get inside wal mart more water comes out of me. I told myself that I have to get all of the things I came for and I wasn’t leaving without them but each aisle I went through more and more water kept leaking down my leg. After I checked out, my mom and sister came and got me to drop me off at home so that I can get a few things and head to the hospital. But before I go I took a shower, shaved and made sure I brushed my teeth. I cannot go to the hospital smelling bad that’s just wrong for me. So, my mom takes Jack and Jefferson and I drive over to the hospital.

They emit us and it was about eight o’clock in the morning and gets us set up in a small room so that the nurse can check my pad to see if my embryotic fluid has ruptured because I told her my water broke. Sure enough she checked her slide under the microscope and it crystalized real quickly. Then she checked my cervix and said that I was dilated to a 6. Following that, they sent us into the labor and delivery room where they got me all set up but they had not giving me any Pitocin yet. Because they didn’t know what my Strep result was and so they gave me penicillin and that stuff kills like crazy and just burns and it makes you want to scream. Plus, we were waiting to see what Dr. Huish wanted to do about me going into labor. After thirty minutes or so Dr. Huish gave the ok and the nurse started to give me some Pitocin. I had been dilated a 6 for about 4 hours and the contractions kept getting worst and worst and this time they weren’t front labor pains they were back labor pains and those kill like crazy. Poor Norma had to massage my back the entire time I had contractions and the breathing techniques just didn’t cut it. After being at a 6 for 4 hours and just suffering like crazy I said enough is enough and I told them I want the epidural. The epidural totally kills and I can still feel some of the side effects in my back from it. However, having the epidural did make my delivery just so AMAZING. After they gave me the epidural I fell asleep for like two hours and when I woke up I started to feel pressure in my pelvic and the nurse checked my cervix and said that her head is there and ready to come so they called the Dr. The nurse was going to have me push but because Adelynn was so low it was not possible. I pushed four times and didn’t even feel a thing and then she came out at 2:25 pm, 5 pounds 14 ounces and 17 inches long. Adelynn was absolutely perfect and gorgeous. However, because she is a premie she had major jaundice. She is the perfect baby, she slept a lot and she ate well too. It was great! Because I didn’t tare or get an episiotomy I felt great after the epidural wore off and it was nice to be able to walk and just do whatever where with Jack I could barely move. Right after I delivered I ordered me the biggest meal ever. I was sooo hungry and hadn't eaten anything since eight oclock the night before. Being in the hospital for the two days was really boring and the internet and TV channels are terrible. I was so happy the day we got to go home. However, poor Adelynn suffered a lot of poking while she was in the hospital because of her jaundice I felt so sad for my little girl but she did so well.
